In August of 1976 MTA sold a number of GM TDH 5106 and a few ex-Coral Gables Southerns to CoTran in Palm Beach county. CoTran then was a start-up outfit and had a shoe string budget. Though the buses were in good mechanical shape, their appearance was shabby. CoTran did not have a body shop and the buses kept the MTA livery and fleet numbers. A CoTran shield was bolted on the buses. The Southerns were used on school trippers while the GMs handled main line runs. In 1979, after more than 25 years of service (600s) to South Florida, these reliable work horses were finally scrapped. CoTran today is known as Palm Tran and operates the youngest fleet in Florida.
